Epidemiology
Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is a Gram-negative bacterium from the Helicobacter family that causes gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer in people across the globe. The pathogen is excreted in the carrier's feces and spreads via fecal-oral, oral-oral, and pet-to-human transmission. After infecting a host, it colonizes the gastric mucosa of the pylorus, disrupting gastrointestinal health and leading to ulcer formation.
