Epidemiology

Respiratory tract infections represent the most prevalent human illnesses, affecting individuals regardless of gender, age, or geographic location, and stand as a leading contributor to global morbidity and mortality [1]. Frequently encountered respiratory pathogens include influenza A virus (IFV A), influenza B virus (IFV B), respiratory syncytial virus, adenovirus, human metapneumovirus, rhinovirus, parainfluenza virus types I/II/III, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae, among others [2,3]. Although the clinical presentations induced by these infections are often similar, the therapeutic approaches, outcomes, and disease progression vary depending on the causative pathogen [4,5]. Current laboratory diagnostic methods for respiratory pathogens encompass viral isolation, antigen detection, and nucleic acid amplification testing. This assay is intended for the qualitative detection and identification of specific viral nucleic acids in specimens from patients exhibiting signs and symptoms of respiratory infection, serving as an adjunct to other clinical and laboratory findings to support the diagnosis of viral respiratory disease.

Work Flow

Two formats of the Viral DNA/RNA Kit are provided: one compatible with the Automatic Nucleic Acid Extractor, and another suitable for manual extraction workflows. The recommended sample input volume is 200 μL, and the suggested elution volume is 150 μL.
