Epidemiology
Dengue fever (DF), caused by infection with the dengue virus (DENV), is a highly prevalent arboviral illness. The disease is transmitted by mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus and occurs mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. DENV is a flavivirus in the family Flaviviridae and can be grouped into four serotypes based on surface antigens. Common symptoms of infection include headache, fever, malaise, enlarged lymph nodes, and leukopenia; severe cases may involve hemorrhage, shock, liver damage, or death. Factors such as climate change, urbanization, and increased travel have accelerated the spread of DF, resulting in a continual expansion of its endemic areas.
Work Flow
Option 1.
Extraction using the TIANamp Virus DNA/RNA Kit (YDP315-R) must be performed strictly as directed. The starting sample volume is 140 µL, and the advised elution volume is 60 µL.
Option 2.
Extraction with the General DNA/RNA Kit, which is usable with the Automatic Nucleic Acid Extractor, should follow its instructions. The sample volume is 200 µL, with a recommended elution volume of 80 µL.

| Specificity | Interference test results show that when the concentration of bilirubin in serum is not more than 168.2μmol/ml, the hemoglobin concentration produced by hemolysis is not more than 130g/L, the blood lipid concentration is not more than 65mmol/ml, the total IgG concentration in serum is not more than 5mg/mL, there is no effect on the dengue virus, Zika virus or chikungunya virus detection. Hepatitis A virus, Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, Herpes virus, Eastern equine encephalitis virus, Hantavirus, Bunya virus, West Nile virus and human genomic serum samples are selected for the cross-reactivity test, and the results show that there is no cross reaction between this kit and the pathogens mentioned above. |
