Epidemiology

Japanese encephalitis is a blood-borne illness that poses a serious threat to patient health and survival. After infection, the encephalitis B virus incubates for roughly 4–7 days, during which it multiplies extensively and disseminates to organs like the liver and spleen. In a minority of cases (0.1%), the virus triggers inflammation of the meninges and brain tissue. Consequently, prompt detection of the virus is critical for managing Japanese encephalitis, and developing a straightforward, specific, and rapid etiological test is vital for clinical diagnosis.

Work Flow

A general DNA/RNA extraction kit (compatible with an automated nucleic acid extractor) should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Process a sample volume of 200 μL and elute in 80 μL.
